Our goal is to help you explore the world safely! At Copperfield Travel Clinic, our consultations and vaccine administrations are led by certified travel health pharmacists accredited by the International Society of Travel Medicine.

How It Works

Request Your Appointment

The first step in our process is to request your appointment. You can conveniently book online by choosing your preferred day and time. If you have a question or need more assistance, do not hesitate to call us. We strive to accommodate your preferred date and time, ensuring you have enough dedicated time to discuss your travel health needs.

Gather Your Information

Once your appointment has been booked, it is important to gather your relevant information. We will provide you with a Pre-Travel Consultation form which we expect you to fill out and return before your appointment, ideally a few days in advance. Fill out as much information as possible, including everything from layover destinations to vaccine history. Take this time to also consider specific questions and concerns so that you do not find yourself wondering about a health consideration on your flight or during your trip. Taking the time to collect and present this information will greatly help to streamline the appointment.

Personalized Consultation

During your appointment, one of our pharmacists will conduct a personalized consultation. They will review your travel itinerary, medical history, and any specific concerns or requirements you may have. This comprehensive assessment allows us to provide tailored travel advice and recommendations based on your unique circumstances. During the consultation, we will ideally decide on all treatments and vaccinations and administer injections at this time. However, it may be necessary to book multiple consultations, depending on the vaccines needed and the complexity of the consultation. Consultations generally take 1-2 hours, but again, this will depend greatly on the complexity of the consultation.

Travel Vaccine Recommendations

Based on your consultation, our prescribing pharmacists will recommend the necessary travel vaccines for your trip. We stay up-to-date with the latest recommendations from health authorities and consider the specific destinations, duration of travel, and activities involved. Once you are provided with all of the pertinent information, together we will decide which vaccinations you would like to proceed with. Occasionally, we may need extra time to conduct additional research, order less common vaccines, or clarify vaccine histories, which may result in deferred treatments.

Vaccine Administration

Once the recommended vaccines are determined, our pharmacists will administer them during your visit, if appropriate. We will also provide you with any necessary documentation or records of the vaccines administered. Please note that more than one injection is often required for a vaccine series, so while there will not be a charge for additional consultations, an injection fee applies to each injection.

Travel Health Advice and Education

As part of our travel health clinic process, we take the time to provide you with comprehensive travel health advice and education. Our pharmacists with additional prescribing authority will discuss preventive measures, such as insect bite prevention, food and water safety, and general health and safety tips for your destination. We aim to empower you with the knowledge and resources to stay healthy during your travels.

Follow-Up/Rebooking

If necessary, we will book any necessary follow-up appointments with you to administer additional vaccines and/or assess any changes to your travel plans that may require consideration. If after your initial consultation, your travel plans change, or you change your mind about a vaccine that was initially declined, you can consult us again with no additional charge if for the same trip. Additional costs of medications and injection fees may apply. This also provides an opportunity to ask additional questions closer to your departure date.
